Crosman Corporation Changes Its Name to "Velocity Outdoor"
Crosman Corporation, one of the leading companies in the air guns and accessories market, has published a press release announcing the change of the company’s name. The new name is Velocity Outdoor. According to the company, the name change is done to better describe the diversity of outdoor products currently offered by the company as well as reflect its future growth plans.
This name change, however, does not mean that they are retiring the Crosman brand. This change is done to consolidate all the brands owned by the company under a different name. If you visit the www.velocity-outdoor.com website, you’ll see that Crosman is listed as one of the brands of Velocity Outdoor. Below you can read the mentioned press release quoted from the company’s website.
Bloomfield, NY August 6, 2018- Crosman Corporation, a subsidiary of Compass Diversified Holdings, LLC (NYSE: CODI), today announced that its board of directors has approved its holding company’s new name: Velocity Outdoor. The new corporate identity better reflects the diverse portfolio of brands currently under the Crosman Corporation umbrella and highlights the company’s strengths in the hunting, shooting and outdoor markets.
The name change does not impact any of the market-leading consumer brands, among them Crosman and Benjamin Airguns, CenterPoint Archery and Optics, LaserMax, Copperhead, and GameFace Airsoft. Velocity Outdoor will encompass these historic brands, which are known for innovation, performance, quality, and value.
“Our company’s roots have been in the airgun category for more than 90 years, and it will continue to represent an important core of our business,” said Bob Beckwith, Chief Executive Officer. “We have also seen significant growth in our CenterPoint Archery brand and recently acquired the LaserMax commercial business. The Velocity Outdoor name will be a strong corporate umbrella to represent a diverse product portfolio and position us for future growth in the outdoor sporting goods market.”
Product branding and packaging will not change, and our various branded websites will remain the primary consumer-facing e-commerce and customer service websites for the near term. Corporate information will be available at www.velocity-outdoor.com.
As you can see, this seems to be only a formal change and should not reflect the availability and quality of the products currently offered by the company.

I use Crosmans to shoot cans at home, 25 yard outside range, quieter, neighbors don't complain, more fun than shooting the pistol or shotgun, but, the pistol and shotgun are not for fun. Same basic principles, safety, zeroing, shooting.
Can’t blame them trying weird stuff, Hatsan is going HAM on mid priced adult airguns, other airsoft mfgrs are probably taking the young, low-price end of their sales...
