As TFB told you earlier this year, there are Glock Magazine Lowers for the B&T APC9-G & GHM9-G coming.

It doesn’t stop there, as you know the Swiss B&T is a very innovative company, with (for the industry) short leadtimes. This means they can provide a constant flow of new and improved products.

B&T (no longer called Brugger & Thomet, just B&T) posted a sneak peek of their upcoming APC9 PRO.

The APC9 PRO is partially a result of US and German MIL contract requirements.

Above: It offers a new lower, with an M4 style grip which is interchangeable. The new lower also has a bolt hold open The upper on the APC PRO has a non-reciprocating charging handle, that also folds back automatically. You can switch it for the left or the right side, as you wish. Aimpoint as usual with B&T.

The APC PRO also accepts the new Glock lower (APC9-G).

Before you call your dealer please note that they don’t (as in DO NOT) have shipping dates yet, but you could always get first in line if you think you need one.

The price hasn’t been released yet but don’t expect it to cost much more than the standard version. DSGArms have some prices for B&T if you are interested in what they go for now.

From what we understand, the new PRO lower will be compatible if you already have an existing APC9.

The Glock compatible lower will require a modification or a replacement bolt in your standard APC9. Future standard APC9 and GHM9 will come with Glock ready bolts from the factory.

It seems the non-reciprocating charging handle and functionality cannot be retrofitted, as the mechanism needs a different placement of the channel for the charging handle.

Below: I think, but I’m not sure, this sticker was made for F16 fighter pilots that chose B&T as carry firearms (not the APC9).

According to B&T the design was originally made for a German contract and later adapted for a US contract. Then they decided to offer it to the civilian market as well.

Apparently some units like the AR-style operation. As TFB reported earlier, you can fit an AR trigger to your APC9.

In the comments, B&T also stated that the GHM9 is just about to move to Generation 2, and will then take Glock and PRO lowers, but it will not be able to have a non moving charging handle as the design of the upper makes it to complicated.

I hope I got all the details right, as I hope you understand there isn’t a detailed press release or a media package to do dig out information from, and details may as always change from this sneak peak. This may be the price for being first with news, but we hope you enjoy getting to know things first in line.

 

A personal comment, as a B&T APC9 user:

I’m quite interested in these upgrades myself. It’s easy to understand the customer feedback, especially if they’re from LEAF, but I don’t feel these upgrades is a must of any kind – at least not for my usage.

I try to bring one of my APC9:s at least every other time I go to the shooting range, just for the fun of it. Never had a jam with any of them! One is a suppressed 9 mm and I rarely clean it, the other is a short barreled 5.5″ 9 mm. I just added a B&T MP5 style suppressor on it.

Below: Come winter, come snow. Short-barreled APC9 (SBR) with Spuhr riser with Aimpoint 6 MOA, Surefire laser (which hides the barrel) and double-stack magazine. This is the original APC9 lower, note the non-interchangeable pistol grip.

The stock in the video and the picture above is the one I use, and I can highly recommend it. It doesn’t come cheap, but if you can afford it make sure you get it.
