Ascend Armory added a new receiver set to their line of AR-15 receivers. Just like other receivers made by this company, the new set is also machined out of billet aluminum, however, what sets it apart is the existence of multiple relief cuts which make this receiver set a lightweight one.

By examining the images, I think they chose the right way of decreasing the weight of these receivers. Instead of skeletonizing the receivers and making them weaker and exposing the internal parts to the elements, they removed the material in the areas where you don’t really need it thus not compromising the structural strength of these parts.

Ascend Armory’s AR-15 billet match receiver sets are machined out of 7075-T6 aluminum and feature a mil-spec Class III Type 2 hard coat anodized finish of black color. The trigger guard is enlarged and integrated with the lower receiver. The magazine well is flared to aid guiding the magazines in. The upper receiver features M4 feed ramps and has no forward assist. The combined weight of the stripped upper and lower receivers is 13 oz.
