Wilson Combat has introduced the Commander version of the Vickers Elite 1911 pistol. This shorter iteration of the Vickers Elite 1911 is designed for the concealed carry market. As you can expect from a Wilson Combat gun, this pistol is packed with a bunch of custom features.

Let’s first see what Larry Vickers said about the Vickers Elite 1911 pistols (quoted from Wilson Combat website).

The Vickers Elite is the natural evolution of the Wilson Combat that I have used as a primary training 1911 for several years. In arriving at the Vickers Elite design, I retained the majority of the features found on that pistol while tweaking a few others. The result is a superb 1911 built for serious use. It combines a classic look with a modern twist, and in case you hadn’t figured it out yet, I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

As you know, the Commander has a shorter barrel: 4.25″ as opposed to the 5″ barrel of the Government size. The frame and the slide of this pistol are made of carbon steel forgings. The barrel is made of stainless steel and has outside flutings on the chamber area. All these major components are hand fitted to each other which as Wilson Combat describes, provides match grade accuracy in a reliable defensive pistol. The company guarantees 1.5″ groups at 25 meters.

The frame of the Vickers Elite 1911 pistol comes with a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof round butt magazine well and 30 LPI checkered front strap. The beavertail grip safety, thumb safety and magazine release button are also accessories from the Wilson Combat Bullet Proof series. The grips are made of G10 and along with the rear right portion of the slide, bear the Vickers Tactical logo.

Other features of these pistols include the countersunk slide stop, gold bead front sight, serrations on top and the rear of the slide, wide cocking serrations etc. The trigger pull weight is stated to be from 3.5 to 4.5 lbs. The dimensions of these pistols are as follows: length – 7.85″; height – 5.6″, width – 1.3″. The empty weight is 39.6 oz. The sight radius is 5.95″.

Wilson Combat Vickers Elite Commander pistols are available in .45 ACP or 9x19mm chamberings. The MSRP is $3,850 for the .45 version and the 9mm one will cost you $3,960.
