On the 22nd June Julien’s Auctions will auction property from the estate of the late comedian Jerry Lewis. Lewis, a comedian, actor and entertainer for over 60 years, died in August 2017, aged 91. Items from his estate will be auctioned at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas by Julien’s, the items up for sale include Lewis’ modest firearms collections.

Lewis appears to have been a fan of revolvers, shotguns and Beretta pistols. The firearms auction lots include his Las Vegas Metro-issued concealed carry permit, a collection of Beretta 92s, Smith & Wesson 3913 compacts, an Astra pocket pistol, a Colt Agent, a Glock 17, and over a dozen Smith & Wesson snubnosed J-frame .38 revolvers. Also up for auction are a large number of pump and semi-automatic shotguns including a plethora of Mossbergs and a fine John Rigby of London side by side.

Darren Julien, President/Chief Executive Officer of Julien’s Auctions, said in a press release announcing the auction:

Jerry Lewis epitomized the very definition of a Hollywood icon who blazed a path like no other. With a career that included being part of one of the most successful comedy duos of all time to his memorable roles as the Nutty Professor and the King of Comedy to his extraordinary humanitarianism, we are honored to present this once in a lifetime auction event celebrating his comedic genius and legacy as one of Hollywood’s greatest stars.

Here’s some more pages from the auctions catalogue, which can be found in full here:

In 2008 Lewis was detained by police in Las Vegas when airport security found an unloaded gun in his baggage. Police seized a small .22 calibre handgun found in his luggage and was cited for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

Lewis appears to have been a longtime firearms enthusiast, in the video below can be seen part of his night club rehearsal tape, dating from 1960, which shows that like many of his contemporaries Lewis was a competent ‘gunslinger’, showing off his quick draw skills:

The auction will take place in two sessions at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the 22nd, more information can be found here.
