OutWest Systems recently debuted their SharpShot EZ-Trainer Marksmanship Training System. It’s a laser based training system that includes a target holding box that works with a standard 8.5 x 11 inch paper target and a smartphone/tablet app. To use the SharpShot EZ-Trainer you’ll need to also use one of the various laser training devices on the market such as the SIRT, Laser Shot, LaserLyte or Laser-Ammo units. To use the trainer just fire up the app and start shooting, your hits will be shown on a virtual target on your phone or tablet and you’ll also get verbal reports on your hit locations.

There’s also a quick draw mode with a shot timer. The system also works with airsoft guns and you can link up to five SharpShot target holders together within the app. While the SharpShot EZ-Trainer seems like a great way to train right at home, it’s not a cheap setup however. It’s going to retail for $350, and it’s not even available yet. The makers are trying to source funding on Kickstarter.

Take an NRA target, or print your own 8.5 x 11-inch paper target, and insert it into the wireless target holder box. Load in a LASER firing unit from any company that fits your firearm and start practicing. Yes, we said any visible LASER. If it fits, it shows the hits!

Using the SharpShot app, your hits will instantly display on your portable device as soon as you fire. Additionally, the order and time is tracked for each hit, and all data can be saved indefinitely for later review. This system will show the exact hit location accurately in distance in or out of the bullseye – no more “sort of accurate” hit info.

The SharpShot EZ-Trainer is designed for indoor use with up to five SharpShot target holder boxes linked through the app. Several specialized scenarios and training exercises (such as shoot/don’t shoot) are included with the app.

This well thought-out system is ultra-handy; simply put the target holder box anywhere it can be effectively hit with a LASER and the training fun begins.
