A couple of months ago we talked about a Ukrainian company called Automatic that makes functional replicas of historical firearms. The majority of this company’s products are those replicas. One could expect from a company that much specialized in historical firearms not to have a presence in the modern arms and accessories market because these are just way too different niches. However, that is not the case with the Automatic. Along with the MP-38, PPD-34/38 and Mauser C 96 carbine replicas they also make a modern aluminum bolt action rifle chassis!
Automatic aluminum bolt action rifle chassis is made of 7075-T6 aluminum alloy and has a mil-spec (MIL-A-8625 Type III Class1 & Class2) hard coat anodized finish. The cheek rest is made of Delrin to be comfortable when contacting the shooters face with minimal transfer of the temperature of the environment.
The stock of the chassis folds to the right side and has a cheek rest height and length of pull adjustability. The adjustments are done via side star knobs and don’t require the use of tools. There is also a short Picatinny rail section on the bottom of the stock for mounting monopods. The forearm of the chassis has M-LOK accessory mounting slots on 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions. The forearm also has a provision to install an NV Hood.
The Automatic chassis is compatible with AICS pattern magazines. The chassis is available in black or FDE color options.
As in the case of many other such rifle chassis, the installation of the barreled action doesn’t require bedding. The barreled action is simply stripped from its original stock and dropped into the Automatic chassis. Currently, the company’s website lists the following rifles that are compatible with their chassis:
Automatic FSG1-H1500SA (Howa 1500 Short Action)
Automatic FSG1-H1500LA (Howa 1500 Long Action)
Automatic FSG1-R700SA (Remington 700 Short Action)
Automatic FSG1-R700LA (Remington 700 Long Action)
Right now the company is looking for a US distributor. The price for US customers is yet to be determined but according to the manufacturer it should not exceed the $1,000 mark.
