Brownells has announced that they are now making Ruger 10/22 receivers called BRN-22. The company offers both stripped receivers and barreled ones. Both the receivers and barrels also come in several different configurations.

BRN-22 Stripped Receiver

The Brownells BRN-22 receiver is machined out of a billet 6061 T6 aluminum and has a black hard coat anodized finish. The top Picatinny rail section is integral with the receiver. The BRN-22 receiver is compatible with all standard Ruger 10/22 parts. Another nice feature is the hole drilled in the rear wall of the receiver that provides an entry for the cleaning rod and allows to clean the barrel from the chamber.

Besides the described railed receiver, there are a couple of other versions, too. Here is the description of these receiver versions quoted from the Brownells website.

The BRN-22™ receiver comes in three configurations: the Standard BRN-22 has a factory-style 10/22® top profile, right down to the same drilled-and-tapped scope mounting holes, so it will be compatible with the largest number of aftermarket scope bases and sights. The Railed BRN-22R has an integral Picatinny top rail for extra security and versatility in scope mounting. We also offer both of these configurations in the BRN-22T and BRN-22TR receivers that are compatible with Ruger® 10/22® Takedown® barrels, stocks, and accessories.

Here is also a video published by Brownells telling about the BRN-22 receivers.

Right now only the BRN-22 and BRN-22R versions are listed on the company’s website at prices of $79.99 and $89.99 respectively.

As mentioned above, Brownells offers not only the stripped receivers but also ones equipped with barrels. The installed barrels are available in Sporter or Heavy profile options. The Sporter profile is a 16″ barrel whereas the Heavy profile is available in 16″ or 10″ versions. The latter will obviously make an SBR. All barrels are threaded with 1/2-28 thread pitch and come with thread protectors.

The barrel/receiver sets are available with the BRN-22 and BRN-22R receivers. So two receiver and three barrel options make six different combinations. The versions with plain BRN-22 receivers (regardless of the barrel profile) cost $149.99. If you opt to buy a railed BRN-22R receiver with an installed barrel then it will cost you $159.99.
