Beretta reintroduced the 1301 Tactical line of shotguns at NRA 2018. Additional colors (FDE, OD Green, and Marine) have been added to the already popular line of home defense and law enforcement shotguns, but that’s not where the reintroduction ends. Old vs. New

The original 1301 came with a fixed choke – the redesigned version now comes with removable chokes, making it possible to purchase an after-market extended choke tube and extended feed tube to extend the 5+1 capacity to as much as 7+1. As the product manager at Beretta commented during our time together, “Add one in the lifter and one in the chute and the capacity can extend to as many as 9 rounds.” According to Beretta’s sales literature: In conformance to federal law, the magazine-extension tube is available only as an after-market accessory that the customer may purchase separately and install.

The smooth bore makes the 1301 Tactical perfect for multi-use beyond just home defense for which it was already popular. The Product Manager we spoke to at NRA 2018 said the addition of a turkey choke make his 1301 a force to be reckoned with in 00 buck.
