The Black Storm BS-4 chassis is compatible both with AKM and AK-74 rifles. It is a drop-in conversion kit not requiring any permanent changes to the rifle or need of special tools or skills to install it onto the rifle. There is even a cutout in the chassis for the front sling mount of AK rifles. According to the manufacturer, the conversion is a matter of removing the stock and the lower handguard, attaching the bullpup chassis and fixing it in place via the single screw. In order to convert it back to a standard rifle, you must proceed with the reverse process.

Compared to the previous bullpup conversion kits made by Black Storm, the BS-4 kit has several improvements. Particularly, there is now a front charging handle on the left side of the gun which should be much more comfortable than using the original AK charging handle in the bullpup configuration. BS-4 also has a safety selector and a thumb actuated magazine release paddle on the grip.

The Black Storm BS-4 bullpup conversion kit is made of polymer and 1mm sheet metal. It weighs 1,700 grams (3 lbs 12 oz). The company also separately sells various accessories designed for this bullpup chassis such as an enlarged magazine well, muzzle devices, top Picatinny rails etc. The price on the company’s website is 11,500 hryvnias which convert to about $440.

Interesting to note, that the idea of a bullpup AK is popular among Ukrainian military and military arms designers, too. Some of the Ukrainian bullpup AKs include the Vepr (not to be confused with the Molot Vepr), Vulkan and Malyuk rifles.
