When you start to realize that your Made in Switzerland B&T APC-9 is getting too common where you live, you can have a look at the Wyssen Defence WD9.

The WD9 is a semi-automatic 9×19 mm AR-15 style carbine equipped with high quality components and uses Glock magazines. Apart from the obvious standard components (like Magpul), the carbine is made entirely in Switzerland, with a lot of custom work from Wyssen.

In case you, like me, have never heard of Wyssen Defence of Switzerland before it can be mentioned that their parts are mainly manufactured in the family company Wyssen Seilbahnen AG, which since 1926 stands for high-quality products for ropeway and avalanche blasting technology.

Recently we covered their K31 Sniper Chassis system, but they have way cooler products on the shelf.

The company has 35 employees and has its own development department and a mechanical production with state-of-the-art CNC machines.

The head behind the innovative products, Herr Wyssen, has been carrying out development and production orders for other renowned Swiss weapons producers since the 1990s. He’s got some more interesting products as well, hush hush things, which we will cover in the future.

I met him at both EnforceTac and IWA in Germany, and he’s a very friendly and enthusiastic guy.

And just like you he reads TFB on a daily basis!

Let’s take a closer look at his creation, the WD9.

Here’s the Wyssen Defence WD9-SD. The version you really wanted!

Yes, you can fire supersonics and they will become subsonics in this one.

And the WD9-K. Note the chopped-off Magpul vertical grip.

Pretty nice work, this is far from off-the-shelf parts.

WD-9 with details.

What do you think of Herr Wyssen’s creation?

    "Patent Pending"

Patent on what? It looks like any other Glock AR-9. What have they changed to make it novel, nonobvious, and useful?

@JSandMath But a new implementation probably isn't novel. Meh most patents fail when they actually attempt to defend it.

How is this so different & unique from American made AR-9 SBRs?
