BEHIND THE SCENES: The M1A From Springfield Armory

    M1A

Nathaniel, Matt, Miles or virtually any other TFB writer could drop pages of knowledge on the development and use of the M1A rifle. Instead, you’re stuck with me and my incidental stories; I’ve lusted after a proper M1A ever since I first saw a print of the iconic rifle hanging in an old supervisor’s office, signed by legendary Scout Sniper Carlos Hathcock himself. It may be heavy and outdated, but the M1A certainly is a beautiful firearm.

Springfield Armory is giving us another behind the scenes look, this time involving a rifle that has been made in-house since 1974. The video, links and additional information can be found below.

A look at Springfield Armory’s storied M1A rifle platform

GENESEO, IL, March 21, 2018 – Springfield Armory has released a short video detailing the history of its M1A series, and what goes into the creation of an American icon. The M1A product line has been produced by Springfield Armory since 1974.

Not only is Springfield Armory one of the only manufacturers currently producing this civilian version of the M14 rifle, but it is also incredibly proud to continue the tradition of building such a demanding rifle.

“The careful hours, scrupulous effort, expert machining and meticulous tool work needed to complete an M1A from start to finish, make it a labor-intensive yet wholly worthwhile process,” says CEO Dennis Reese. “The end result honors the tradition and legacy of the M1A. It is truly an exceptional rifle and a beloved American firearm.”
