The yearly exhibition IWA is very soon upon us, and the German firearms manufacturer Oberland Arms is releasing a new 9×19 mm semi-automatic rifle in AR15-style.

It is called OA-15 M9 and comes with a 45 cm (17.7″) match barrel in Stainless steel made by Lothar Walther.

Oberland Arms have asked the BKA ((Federal Criminal Police Office (Germany)) to get clearance for the model to be used sports shooting. To the best of my knowledge this is the normal procedure, to make sure that the rifle is not a “rifle of war” or compatible with one (i.e. M16).

The part number is R-919-15-00481, M9, kal. 9mm x19 450 mm Lauf.

The price is €1 990, which is around 2 400 USD.

I don’t know which kind of magazine the M9 will use, but apparently not Glock, as that might pose a problem with the new EU Gun legislation which is also very soon about to be implemented. However, it is unclear how the “EU Gun Ban” might affect owners, as the laws are not written yet and surely will be a bit different between countries.

I just wish more manufacturers would re-CAD the lower when they go from 223 to 9 mm because it just doesn’t look very good with a tiny magazine in a huge magwell. Is it really that difficult?

Another new thing you will be able to find from Oberland Arms is the (Shield, Made in the UK) SIS with a switchable reticle: 1 MOA point, 8 MOA point, 1 MOA point with 65 MOA circle and 8 MOA point with 65 MOA circle. The brightness can be controlled at the touch of a button, but also adjusts itself automatically using the light sensor.

Oberland will have a new mount for it around March 2018, milled from T7075 aluminum and forms a seamless unit with the visor. Same fit & finish as the aluminum parts of the OA-15.

The complete unit weighs only about 120 grams.

Oberland will also show an OA-15 M10 in .300 Whisper.

The price is €2 550 including a Geissele two-stage trigger. That equates to roughly 3 200 USD.

Oberland’s new Suppressor would work just fine with that rifle.

There’s also an OA-10 in 6,5 Creedmoor.
