There is a new upgraded Steyr Mannlicher SSG around the corner called the SSG M1 2018.

The upgrades make the bolt-action rifle quite similar to the SAKO TRG M10, which has had quite a lot of success recently. For instance in Poland, just check here and here for reference.

So it’s another rifle to put on your wish list for long range shooting, and it’s being shown at IWA 2018 in Germany which open tomorrow.

The system is now modular so you can switch between a .308 Win (7,62×51 mm) and .338 Lapua Magnum.

The current SSG 08 can be found in these calibers today – .243 Win., .308 Win. (7,62×51 NATO), .300 Win. Mag., .338 Lap. Mag. – so it would not surprise me if we will see more options and replacement barrels in the future, however, that is unconfirmed at this point.

Some of THE features of the SSG M1 will include:

Top Picatinny has 30 MOA slope.

KeyMod handguard.

Free Floating Barrel.

A.F.S Aluminium folding Stock, with adjustments.

You can load the rifle while the safety is on

Exchangeable pistol grips.

Adjustable trigger

The barrel can be changed quickly, between 508 mm / 20″ .308 Win and 690 mm 27,2″.

You can also notice that there is a dust cover on the receiver.

The top rifle has Kahles sight (624i I think) with an Aimpoint Micro H2 side mounted, and an Atlas bipod.

Below you can compare it to the current SSG 08 so you can notice – for instance – the handguard, Picatinny rail, magwell, and buttstock. The safety seems replaced as well.
