[SHOT 2018] TFB TOP FIVE – Handguns

    Handguns

As we roll into that giant sunset in the SHOT Show sky, let’s take a second to review some of the most significant handguns announced a few weeks ago. As a sign of the times, the top requested pistol is basically an MP5 without a stock. Both long rumored and long awaited, the PTR 9C and 9CT is a quality American made roller delayed firearm with an accessible price point. Take a look at the rest of our Top Five list and let us know your thoughts.

    SHOT SHOW 2018 – HANDGUNS

    HEADLINER: Sig P365

Sig Sauer has just announced the new P365 – a compact 9mm pistol designed to be the ultimate everyday carry handgun. A quick look at the specifications put in about the same size class as the G43, with a 10+1 round capacity. Magazine extensions are also available as well as a ‘slim rail’ for soon to be released lights and lasers.

    PTR 9C:

After years of rumors and speculation, roller-delayed carbine fans can breathe a sigh of relief: PTR is finally announcing the release and consumer availability of the PTR 9C and PTR 9CT. The Aynor, South Carolina team spent years perfecting the design of the new gun that is built true to the original intended design. And it shows: the build quality is extremely solid and refined, with subtile tweaks that make it uniquely PTR. The package will ship in a marked hard sided case, two magazines a single point sling and a sight adjustment tool. The best part? Mass production starts this week, with delivery to distributors only a few short weeks away.

    Taurus 1911 Officer:

Like the 1911 Commander they ushered in a few days ago on their Facebook page, the 1911 Officer has the same stylings and aesthetic appearance as the rest of their line-up. Some may consider this a positive if you already own Taurus 1911s and would appreciate completing a matching set. Conversely, it would be nice to see Taurus step out on a limb and do something a little more unique and creative with their pistols.

    B&T USW-320:

    https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/02/01/usw-320/

Building on the success of their original Universal Service Weapon (USW) pistol, Swiss firearms and suppressor manufacturer B&T has designed a new polymer version based on the P320. Besides the modularity of the new USW-320, the frame itself is imported and sold as an uncontrolled part – meaning customers will be able to to buy it simply as a part or accessory and either add their existing P320 fire control group or purchase a new group through a licensed dealer.

    Lone Wolf:

Lone Wolf’s new series of Glock-based firearms is just as cool as you hoped it would be. My personal favorite is the combination of the G26 frame and G19 slide, giving all of the compact sizes of the G26 on a more versatile G19 frame with an ambi magazine catch.

    ZRODELTA Modular Aluminum Glock Frame

ZRODELTA has a modular Glock clone with a metal grip. We already saw a metal Glock frame announced by Dasan. And while this is also an Aluminum frame, ZRODelta’s Genesis Z9 takes that idea a step further.

    Handguns

Ringing in the New Year in true polymer style, three new GLOCKs have just been officially announced with U.S. consumer availability starting on January 22 – the first day of the 2018 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The highlight of the release is the 19X – GLOCK’s version of the U.S. Army’s Modular Handgun System (MHS) submission featuring a G19 length slide on a G17 sized frame, all dressed up in field dark earth (FDE).
