[SHOT 2018] Drake Associates Chassis for Savage A17 and A22 Rifles

Among a wide variety of aluminum rifle chassis, Drake Associates also makes one for Savage A17 and A22 rimfire rifles. The chassis makes the mentioned rifles to be compatible with AR-15 grips and buffer tubes/stocks as well as provides M-LOK accessory mounting slots on the forearm.

There is another interesting design solution built into this chassis. The grip mounting portion is removable, which allows equipping the chassis with an angled aluminum grip instead of the AR-15 pistol grip (see the image below). This feature allows the Drake Associates chassis to be legal in states where pistol grips on semi-auto rifles are banned.

Drake chassis is a completely drop-in one and does not require any modifications to the barreled action of  Savage A17 and A22 rifles. It also has tighter tolerances of the magazine well. It is possible to choose the finish of this chassis – Cerakote or hard coat anodized. The chassis is offered with a variety of color options for both the mentioned finish/coating types.

The company offers both the complete rifles with the chassis installed and the chassis separately. They have also developed a heavy profile 16″ barrel for the Savage A17 rifle.

Drake Associates advertises this chassis and rifles equipped with it to be suitable for precision shooters, varmint hunters and new or young shooters. The Drake A17/A22 chassis is a patent pending design.
