[SHOT 2018] Robinson Armaments Tailhook Brace Equipped Pistol and M-Lok Addition

Robinson Armaments has added a new Tailhook Brace to a new line of pistol XCR versions of their full-length XCR rifle configurations, in addition to adding M-Lok to their entire line, along with the previous Keymod rails they had mounted on them previously. The pistol configuration comes with the Gear Head Works Tailhook Mod 1 (made from aluminum) and is set up on the companies adjustable stock/adjustable cheekpiece. The entire configuration is ATF approved as well. The line can be ordered in 7.5″, 9″, 10″, 11″ and 12″ length barrel configurations, in addition to corresponding handguard lengths. The slimmer versions are the Keymod ones which take up less space on the sides and bottom of the handguard than the M-Lok that need more space for the mounting systems. In addition, the pistols and all the rifles for that matter can be ordered in 5.56x45mm, .300 BLK, 6.8 SPC, 7.62x39mm, and 6.5 Grendel. There is a rifle option that can be ordered in 7.62x51mm as well.

Robinson Armament had a number of elaborately finished rifles on the show floor. The regular line is instead offered in Black, FDE, and Olive Drab.

Robinson Armaments appears to have an awesome rifle but it just floats under the general radar for some reason within the industry. As an example the company has a non-reciprocating charging handle, an ambidextrous bolt release/bolt hold open latch, an ambidextrous magazine release, an adjustable gas piston operated design, and can take some AR parts such as the pistol grip.

The representative I talked to mentioned that a number of their large orders have actually been for LE markets in Europe rather than any U.S. civilian order. I was also surprised to learn this very interesting fact (from Wikipedia, so a grain of salt must be taken), but the company actually participated in the SOCOM SCAR trials but was disqualified due to being late on submitting a blank firing adaptor! Of all things, it was a BFA that prevented further testing in the SCAR trials!

I own two, a standard rifle and an SBR both in 6.8 SPC. I also have the 300 BLK kit for the SBR as well. I recently changed scope mounts on the rifle and re-sighted it in. With SSA 110 gr BTHP my final group of the day was 3/4" at 100 yds. Maybe the group could have been better as the red dot 4x ACOG (6.8 SPC BDC) covered the bulls eye so some guess work was involved using a reference point at the bottom of the dot.

Shot a buddy's XCR a few years back and it shot ok. Not as nice as a SCAR but better then the ACR I had at the time. Robinson Arms guns aren't bad, just not well promoted or marketed. I've heard complaints about their customer service, but they responded promptly the only time my buddy had a problem with his XCR. Eventually my buddy traded in his XCR at the local shop for something else. Funny thing is that same XCR is still sitting in that same shop three years after my buddy traded it in. I would like to see Robinson Arms start making their M96 rifle again.

@PDWorx Me to, and do like they promised a LONG time ago and offer a belt fed upper attachment for the M96 - just like the original Stoner system.
