Norma Precision cutbacks in Sweden due to falling American market

I don’t like to be the bearer of bad news, especially as the doors to SHOT Show are about to open and a new year has just started.

However, the Swedish Ammunition manufacturer Norma Precision AB in Åmotfors have just given 29 of their employees a four month’s notice. In total the factory employs 190 people.

Reason: a long-term decline in the US market as well as a falling US Dollar which eats the profits.

Norma sees evidence that the US market is saturated after the Presidential Election, and the price competition doesn’t help. In the articles (source below) Norma especially points out one unnamed competitor that has decreased their pricing dramatically.

Much can of course happen in the coming months, but the outcome of SHOT Show 2018 will be more important than ever for Norma.

If you’re at SHOT Show and want to visit Norma and given them some attention and cheering they are waiting for you in booth #14276.
