The Pinnacle 3-18×44 Scope from Sightmark
Sightmark announced a new variable power rifle scope for 2018. Dubbed “as versatile an optic as they come” by the company, the new Pinnacle 3-18×44 is a first focal plane scope with a 34mm tube. Based on the scope’s magnification, this optic lands between the company’s existing 1-6x and 5-30x Pinnacle scopes.
The reticle is illuminated in your choice of red or green. It has five brightness settings plus an “off” position. On a single battery, the red illumination will run up to 1,000 hours depending on brightness level. The green illumination will run for up to 800 hours.
Sightmark states the scope uses Japanese glass in the scope with multi-coated lenses. The company states the clarity of the scope is extremely good and “second to none.”
The Pinnacle 3-18×44 is both dust and waterproof with an IP67 rating. It can be submerged to 1 meter for up to 1 hour without being damaged. While I doubt anyone would go swimming with this scope, it is reassuring to know that should you ever drop your rifle in a stream, it won’t be out of service when you pull it out.
Sightmark ships the Pinnacle 3-18x scope with thread protectors, turret caps, a sunshade and a CR2032 battery for the illuminated reticle. Mounts are up to you. The suggested retail price of this scope is $1,559.99. Your dealer sets the final price, which may be significantly lower.
