Heckler & Koch – Price Lists from 1985, 1991 & 1992

Someone somewhere posted these old price lists from Heckler & Koch. They are dated from 1985, 1991 and 1992 and includes some of the HK firearms on sale back then.

As a reference, in 1985 Mikhail Gorbachev (leader of the Soviet Union) and Ronald Reagan (President of the United States, but I guess you knew) met for the first time and Ernie Wise made the first mobile phone call in the UK. The Prime Minister of Sweden, Olof Palme, was shot the year after, the murder still at large.

Back then, an HK-91 was $665 in 1985. The Inflation Calculator tells us that equates to $1,524 in 2018.

A friend in the EU just bought an MKE G3 clone, made in Turkey, and it was more than 2,500 USD.

    The HK-93 was $599 in 1985, should have been $1,373 in 2018

I wouldn’t say that my HK rifle was cheap (MR223) when I bought it 8 years ago, but it wasn’t a whole lot more expensive than other comparable rifles (AR15 of high quality).

Fast Forward to 1991 when The US liberates Kuwait and the end of the first Gulf War and Boris Yeltsin becomes the first elected president of Russia.

The HK SR-9 308 Win Hunting Rifle appears at $1259.

The PSG-1 High Precision Marksman’s rifle is there too. The price was a mind-blowing $8,869 in 1991, which translates to $16,062 in 2018! It was only available as LEAF sales.

Certainly not cheap, but note that it actually includes more or less everything you need including a 6 power illuminated scope.

Note the “HK Pulse Beam Laser Sights“.

A year later, in 1992, this is what the prices looked like. Note all the HK P7s. Which one would you have bought? Which one should you have bought, as an investment?

Note that the restrictions on the PSG-1 are no longer mentioned.
