There is a new LWRC rifle for the 224 Valkyrie caliber. I haven’t been able to find the 224 Valkyrie on the LWRC homepage yet, so please forgive me if I don’t get all the specifications right. Perhaps the official release will be at SHOT Show 2018?

The LWRC IC DI 224 Valkyrie Rifle is a Direct Impingement Rifle with a LWRC 20.1″ cold hammer forged barrel, which is also NiCor treated for longevity and enhanced accuracy.

The system has a rifle length 12″ + 1″ gas system and a LWRC gas block. The weight is around 8.15 lbs., lust slightly less than 4 kg. Not bad for a rifle with an over all length of 40″ or 102 cm.

Looks like a LWRC 16 inch M-LOK Free Floating Handguard. The rifling of the barrel is 1:10 RH.

According to LWRC:

NiCorr surface conversion has proved more lubricious, harder wearing, more heat and corrosion resistant than the hard chrome normally used in the bore. Our barrels can handle 20,000 rounds before replacement, as compared to 6,000-10,000 rounds on a standard M4.

As you know the 224 Valkyrie is based on the 6.8 SPC Cartridge, which is then necked down to Federal’s new .224 Bullets.

The compensator / muzzle brake looks like it’s going to do the job. It looks similar to JP Enterprises compensator, except with another row. LWRC call it a 4 Port Muzzle Break, makes sense.

The stock trigger is a ALG Defense Fire Control Group, but there are other options available. LWRC Advanced Trigger Guard.

There are a variety of colors available, like FDE (Flat Dark Earth), OD Green (Olive Drab), PB (Patriot Brown) Cerakote in addition to the standard black anodized.

LWRC also have a bolt for the 6.8 and the .224 Valkyrie.

Replacement bolt for any of our rifles chambered in 6.8mm, including both the Six8 and legacy M6 platforms as well as the .224 Valkyrie. This bolt fits into any Mil-STD bolt carrier and functions accordingly.

As mentioned, this rifle isn’t on the LWRC homepage yet, but expect a price around 2,000 USD.
