About a year ago, Savage Arms launched a new line of rimfire rifles called the A22. From the information I’ve received, the guns seem to be selling well. Well enough, it would appear, for the company to offer a limited run of special A22 rifles.
The new A22 FV FDX XP is a straight blowback rifle chambered in .22 LR. It uses a thread in headspace system that is the same as what the company uses on its more expensive centerfire rifles.
Savage equips this rifle with a 16.5″ barrel that is threaded for the addition of a suppressor or other muzzle device. It does come with a cap to protect the threads. The barrel has a matte black finish that contrasts the tan stock for a two-tone effect. The stock has sling attachment points.
On top, Savage includes a rail for mounting optics. Included with this gun is the respected TRS25 from Bushnell. It is an affordable red dot sight that many people have found to be a good optic – especially considering it can often be purchased for less than $100.
Like many of its centerfire rifles, Savage Arms equips this A22 with the AccuTrigger. Also, the gun has a steel receiver for increased durability.
This model ships with a 25 round Butler Creek magazine plus one of the standard A22 10 round magazines. The suggested retail price is $449.
