Comp-Tac Announced Holsters for New Laser Equipped S&W Shield Pistols

When the new Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistol rolled out earlier this year, one of the new factory options was an integrated Crimson Trace laser. While still new to the market, there are a lot of people buying these guns and relating positive stories about them. How well the Crimson Trace equipped guns sell as compared to the plain guns remains to be seen.

Offering an integrated laser, however, created a problem for shooters: finding a holster that would fit. For example, existing Smith & Wesson Shield holsters would not fit these guns because of the extra mass hanging under the frame. So, holster makers are having to modify existing designs to fit the new pistols.

A pair of early holster options for the new Shield pistols comes from Comp-Tac. The company is now offering its International holster and its Infidel Max holster as options for carrying your new laser equipped Shield.

The International is a Kydex OWB (outside the waistband) rig that allows for a significant degree of customization. You can use either a belt or paddle mount with this gun, add a drop offset and adjust the cant. If you go with a belt mount, it is designed for a 1.5″ belt width, but can be adjusted to fit belts up to 2″ in width. Comp-Tac sets the MSRP at $76.99.

The Infidel Max is an IWB (inside the waistband) style holster that comes with a 1.5″ belt clip. Loops and a 1.75″ clip are also available for this rig. This is also a Kydex holster with an open top. The company lists this holster for $71.99.
