If you are a waterfowl hunter, the new ammunition line from HEVI-Shot may be of interest. The company recently announced a new series of shotgun loads that were specifically designed for snow geese and other waterfowl called HEVI-Snow.

HEVI-Snow loads use steel shot and were developed to deliver higher velocities with larger payloads through the use of a new powder. According to the company, the new loads clock in between 1,500 – 1,550 fps and deliver about 7% more energy.

The company states the ammunition is safe to use in any shotgun with a steel shot rated barrel. Depending on the load selected, the suggested retail price ranges from $14.99 to $17.99. The ammunition is made in the United States of America.

HEVI-Shot is offering this line in 12 gauge only. Loads offered include both 3″ and 3.5″ shells. All of the 3″ shells are rated at 1,500 fps, while all of the longer ones get the 50 fps boost. The specific loads that are currently available are:

  • 12 GA, 3″ shell: 1.25 oz #2 shot
  • 12 GA, 3″ shell: 1.25 oz #1 shot
  • 12 GA, 3″ shell: 1.25 oz BB shot
  • 12 GA, 3″ shell: 1.25 oz BBB shot
  • 12 GA, 3.5″ shell: 1.375 oz #2 shot
  • 12 GA, 3.5″ shell: 1.375 oz #1 shot
  • 12 GA, 3.5″ shell: 1.375 oz BB shot
  • 12 GA, 3.5″ shell: 1.375 oz BBB shot

HEVI-Shot makes a variety of shotgun lines to suit the needs of different hunters. The company also manufactures 9mm ammunition in its HEVI-Duty line.

So... Hevi-shot is making ammunition that doesn't contain any Hevi-shot. I guess that's innovative. Thanks for letting me know that I need to read the label closely before I buy anything from them

As a Swede I’m impressed and thankful that our American friends has solved the previously unsolvable problem of animals becoming bulletproof in the winter. This will help us survive in the harsh winter months and save hundreds, if not thousands, of lives each year.

@Dan Here in the old world we tried to bring down the armoured avians with twin mounted 40mm Bofors AA guns to no avail.
