NEW for 2018: Hornady RAPiD Vehicle Safe
A lot of us who carry on a daily basis will spend a lot of time in our vehicles. It is just a part of our frantic and productive lives. Whether you work from your vehicle in various capacities or you need to hit the grocery store to grab some milk for supper, many of us find ourselves carrying pistols in our vehicles. So what do you do with your pistol once you are in your vehicle?… Does it get tossed in the center counsel? Glove box? Side door? Or do you have a true safe place to store it?… Hornady wants to solve that conundrum for you with their new RAPiD Vehicle Safe.
Matt Mack, Hornady Project Engineer, spoke about this new RAPiD Vehicle Safe that will be hitting the market in 2018:
The vehicle safe is designed for vehicle applications specifically. Its designed to be mounted vertically near the center counsel or between the seats and as it opens up there is a ‘presenter’ in there so that the firearm actually presents as the lid opens for great easy access to it.
The vehicle safe is designed to the same ASTM standards as all of our other RAPiD safes which means it goes through the same pry attacks… saw attacks… pole… hinge attacks… as all of our other RAPiD safes so that means it is certified as a youth resistant firearm storage device.
The Hornady RAPiD Vehicle Safe can be opened through multiple hands-free pathways such as a wristband, key fob or sticker. You can also open the RAPiD Vehicle Safe with a traditional key or the touchpad. The exterior housing is made of 14 Gauge steel with two internal, hardened locking lugs. According to Hornady, the safe exceeds ASTM international safety standards for child & pry resistance.
What is likely the best selling point of this safe is the inflatable bladder used to situate it next to your center counsel without the need of damaging mounting hardware that would deface your vehicle.

Perhaps these can be mandated for LEOs in the San Francisco area, they are prone to leaving firearms unsecured in their vehicles so thugs get a free gun
Not for me. I want 100% hidden. I don't need a car break-in. Thanks anyway.
