JMac Customs RRD-4C “12” Muzzle Brake for SAIGA and VEPR Shotguns

JMac Customs has released the shotgun version of their RRD-4C series of muzzle brakes/muzzle rise compensators. The versions for AK-style rifles have gained a fairly good reputation among AK enthusiasts. The success of the general design has eventually lead to designing the scaled-up version for Vepr 12 and Saiga 12 shotguns.

Despite the humongous appearance, the RRD-4C “12” weighs 5.5oz. Looks like they did a good job of reducing the amount of unnecessary material everywhere it is possible. Note the chamber wall thicknesses and the lightened bottom portion of the muzzle brake.

The RRD-4C “12” is made of 17-4ph stainless steel and has a black nitride finish. It is 3.5″ long (including the locking collar). The width and height are 1.75″ and 1.4″ respectively.

Justin of JMac Customs shows the installation process of this muzzle brake in the video below.

The RRD-4C “12” comes with the locking collar. It is available through the JMac Customs’ website for $142.95.

I don’t have any experience with this particular muzzle device, but I’ve shot a similar one installed on a Saiga-12 shotgun. Large brakes like this make a huge difference. They make the shooting more fun by significantly reducing the recoil of 12 gauge and making follow up shots much easier. That being said, I think the RRD-4C “12” muzzle brake should also be very useful for the competition shooters.
