Huglu RENOVA Inertia Operated Shotguns

Turkish firearms manufacturer Huglu makes a new inertia operated shotgun called Renova. Before discussing the features of this shotgun, let me tell you first that this shotgun can become another brand cooperation project with CZ USA. In other words, just like the Redhead shotguns, Renova might be introduced to US market by CZ.

The Huglu Renova shotgun is available in three color options: black, gray and bronze. There is also a Kryptek camouflage version. It has a rubber buttpad which Huglu calls Soft Impact. The trigger guard/fire control group housing is made of single piece of aluminum. The receiver is made of 7075 aluminum and the barrel steel mark is 4140. The safety is in front of the trigger guard. This shotgun also features an enlarged bolt release button. Besides the Kryptek version which has a polymer furniture, all other versions come with laser engraved/checkered walnut stocks and forearms. The barrel length is 667mm (26.25″). The magazine capacity is 4+1. Huglu Renova weighs 3kg (about 6 lb 10 oz).

The barrels of these shotguns feature elongated forcing cones. They are also back-bored to 18.75mm bore diameter and have 70mm  (2 3/4″) long chokes. All these features are advertised to provide better and more accurate shot patterns. There is also a slug barrel (rifled) option.

I had a chance to see these shotguns during Arms & Hunting 2017 exhibition in Moscow, Russia. My initial impression is positive. The fit and finish is outstanding which makes it look and feel nice.
