Brownells Seeks Gunsmith Cover Models
Brownells, known for their extensive firearms and gunsmith catalog, has announced that they are issuing an “open casting call to gunsmiths for the cover of the next ‘Big Book’ catalog to celebrate the 70th year of its publication.”
The “Big Book” is Brownell’s yearly catalog that is often used as a coffee table book by many gun enthusiasts. The catalog is known for its unique horizontal format which is simultaneously loved and loathed. The catalog features the entire Brownell’s catalog and also features various custom “Dream Guns” configured of parts offered by Brownells. Dream Guns include various AR-15s, 1911s, 2011s, Glocks, M&P Pistols, Remington 700s, and more.
One lucky gunsmith with have their photo and shop featured as the cover artwork on the Big Book #70. To enter, “They can email their best photos of their gunsmith shop or work area to Contests@Brownells.com, or post the photos on social media and use the hashtag #BB70.”
Contestants who submit photos via email will need to include the following information with the picture:
- Name
- Name of shop or business
- Location
- Contact phone number
The contest is open now and will receive submissions through March 31st. The winner of the contest will also receive a $500 gift card to Brownells for yet more gunsmithing supplies.

This is kind of silly. What gunsmith would photograph their workspace? Not only is it going to be a shocking mess compared to Brownell's presentation, but it's like your porn folder. You only want to share your taste in tools and machines with other like minded individuals, because you know some guy is going to criticize your setup if it isn't bridgeport or not totally OSHA kosher.
