POTD: RPD Belty Goodness

@illmanneredgunrunner707 runs a gun store in Petaluma California. He posted this photo of an RPD with a belt of 7.62x39mm fun. I find it odd how the grip has a kydex thumb blocker. Why? Because California. Actually this might just be a DSARMS Semi auto RPD. Not sure why the ammo is loaded on the wrong side.

My guess on the backwards loading is so he could close bolt on an empty chamber, and make it look gnarly with the belt hanging out. And take said pic "safely"?? Not real sure if the RPD will keep a empty link in closed bolt? Not much experience with them truthfully..
