Firefield’s 1×30 Red Dot with Laser

    Firefield

Firefield recently announced a new non-magnifying red dot optic suitable for the AR-15 and other platforms. Unlike many other red dots, this one also includes a red supplemental aiming laser.

Called the Impulse 1×30 Red Dot Sight, this optic has six settings that adjust the brightness of the 3 MOA red aiming reticle. To further assist with aiming the company builds in a red aiming laser. Both the laser and red dot operate on a single CR123A battery which is said to give an operating time of between 700 and 4,300 hours. Although the number isn’t broken down by the company, I assume the shorter time is when both red dot and laser are operating.

According to Firefield, the Impulse 1×30 Red Dot Sight is both water and dust resistant with an IP55 rating.  The company also states the optic is shock proof. The body is made of 6061 aluminum. It is not nitrogen filled, nor does it claim to be fog proof.

Its optimal operating temperature is from 32˚ – 122˚ F. So, this may not be the best sight for someone in the northern climates. Folks in the south are more likely to be able to operate this year round. Digital controls are on the side of the body.

The suggested retail price of this unit is $143.99.
