SIG SAUER Introduces 308 Win Match Grade Elite Performance Ammunition

Once again SIG has added to it’s ever expanding line of handgun and rifle ammunition. This offering is a match grade .308 in the “Elite Performance” line. This round uses the highly successful 168 grain Match King bullet.

    This from Sierra:
MatchKings® are the pride of the Sierra bullet family, unmatched worldwide and truly world class in all respects. Competitive shooters have relied on the consistent accuracy of Sierra’s MatchKings® for decades, resulting in a history of state, national and world records that is the envy of our competitors.

Sierra MatchKing® bullets have set the standards worldwide for consistent accuracy in handguns as well as rifles. Since the introduction of the high performance Remington XP-100 and similar handguns chambering larger rifle cartridges, all 30 caliber MatchKings® have been used in handgun silhouettes and long-range target competitions. Sierra’s famous MatchKing® design assures superb accuracy, flat trajectory, and high momentum delivery with low sensitivity to crosswinds at all ranges.

    Sierra .308 Match King

Over the years I’ve shot thousands of rounds of various brands of .308 ammo loaded with the 168 grain Match King for practice as well as being the issued ammo for my PD SRU team. This new SIG SAUER 308 Win Open Tip Match (OTM) round has a muzzle velocity of 2,700 fps with a muzzle energy of 2,719 ft-lbs.

I have some of these new rounds coming for testing out to 500 yards using my Ruger Precision Rifle with a Nikon scope as well as an ATN night vision scope. Our local PD range is limited to 500 yards.Shooting here at night has to be done on the PD range. I’ll let you all know how it performs. From past experience with this round I expect a high degree of weight retention and overall very good performance.
