Sturm, Ruger & Co. announced a new line of hunting rifles at the recent National Rifle Association Annual Meetings event held in Kentucky. The new rifles are the Hawkeye FTW Hunter models. As the name suggests, these guns were designed for hunting and were developed with the instructors at the FTW Ranch in Texas. These guns are considered all weather and all terrain rifles.
The cold hammer forged barrels are made of stainless steel and have a matte stainless finish. The barrels are threaded and come equipped with a brake to tame recoil. If you do not want to shoot with a brake, Ruger also includes a muzzle weight to maintain the same feel without altering the point of impact. The company also includes a thread protector if you want neither muzzle device.
Barrel lengths vary by caliber, from 22″ – 24″. At introduction, there are seven different calibers being offered:
- 30-06 Sprg
- 300 Win Mag
- 375 Ruger
- 308 Win
- 6.5 Creedmoor
- 7mm Rem Mag
- 260 Rem
Additionally, left handed models will be available in 375 Ruger, 6.5 Creedmoor and 300 Win Mag.
Ruger includes the LC6 trigger on these guns. The laminated stocks have a Natural Gear Camo pattern. Additionally, the shooter can adjust the length of pull on the stock by adding or removing spacers to get the best fit.
The rifles carry a suggested retail price of $1,269.
