[SHOT 2016] FN 15 Competition

    FN 15 Competition

While everyone at the FN booth is gawking at the FN M249S civilian SAW and posing for pictures with it, they’re probably overlooking the new FN 15 Competition model rifle. Sporting FN’s distinctive competition blue, this new rifle looks sharp and is built to perform while the clock is running.

It has upper and lower receivers billet machined from 7075-T651 aluminum anodized blue and a cold hammer-forged chrome-lined 18-inch barrel with a low profile gas block. The muzzle device is a SureFire ProComp 556 muzzle brake to reduce recoil and allow quicker, more accurate follow-up shots. It’s chambered, of course, in 5.56x45mm.

The carrier bolt is nickel-boron coated for smooth and reliable function and wear resistance.

The FN 15 Competition has a rifle-length M-LOK handguard with a full length top rail. The gas system is rifle length and it has an H2 buffer to soften the felt recoil.

The Magpul MOE SL collapsible buttstock has adjustment latches on both sides for easy re-positioning, an internal anti-rattle feature to minimize wobble and keep shots in line, and a rubber butt pad for a tight shoulder fit and comfort on long days in the heat of competition. The pistol grip is also from Magpul’s MOE line.

The FN 15 Competition has a Timney trigger, an ambidextrous bolt release and weighs 8.1 pounds empty. It has an MSRP of $2,249.
