TFB’s Very Own Live Ammo Feed!

You may have noticed that we haven’t produced the weekly ammo post in a couple of months. Some of you were probably like “Thank goodness!”. But for those of you that sent email wondering where it had gone (which was definitely a few), I would like to introduce you to it’s replacement, the TFB Ammo Feed.

We’ve been working on building out our own ammo feed product where we can provide highly targeted results based on your feedback and include the features and results you want. Today we are releasing this as a beta product in order to gauge interest and gather feedback from you, our readers, about what you want to see.

So, what makes this different than the other search engines? Well, for one, it is embedded in the BEST firearm related blog on the web, the one you are reading right now! 🙂 Second, we are able to crawl and extract a significant amount of detailed information from vendor sites and make that information searchable. We are also harvesting the information on a fairly narrow schedule and so you should not see stale listings. In fact the default list is only showing results current within the last two hours.

The Firearm Blog is the first major blog to provide an inline ammo feed. Currently it will be in a beta release while we acquire feedback from you, the readers, about WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE. Based on some super early feedback, we have pre-configured the filters and initial list (this accounts for a fraction of the capability). If there are different things you would like to filter on, please let us know.

We have started off with a limited number of vendors (right now about 20), and we have a list of another 1,000+ sites that we could add over the coming months if your feedback tells us that this is something you’d be interested in using. We are also only currently displaying a subset of calibers (we are actually capturing a lot more than we are showing). We know everyone is going to want more vendors and calibers right out of the box, and that is an ongoing focus.

We have a ton of features on the drawing board (but only so much time in the day to integrate them). We need your feedback to prioritize which ones will make it out the door first. We will also integrate premium features at some point to allow personalization of the feed, real-time alerts, etc.

Think of this as YOUR feed. Tell us what would make this a feature you would return to and use!

Prior to that he was a paramedic somewhere in DFW, also doing some Executive Protection work between shifts. Now that those exciting days are behind him, he teaches wilderness medicine and runs an on-demand medical staffing business. He hopes that his posts will help you find solid gear that will survive whatever you can throw at it–he is known (in certain circles) for his curse…ahem, ability…to find the breaking point of anything.
