Ammo Prices: 4/18/2014
Fourth week of prices. My intention was to generate trending graphs this week, but as I started playing with the data I realized this post would become hideously huge.
So what I would like the reader base to do is to determine what graphs/trends would be most useful and/or interesting. As of right now we are tracking 42 vendors, 9 calibers, and 2 lot sizes. Against those 3 vectors, we have the prices by date.
We could do average price per round per caliber by vendor. Or trend lines of prices by lot size by caliber by vendor. Really anything using the aforementioned vectors.
So, what do you want to see? Post your requests in the comments (if what you want is already there, please “up vote” it rather than duplicate it). I will start with the 2 most popular ideas next week and see how that goes.

How about this? It can be fed by the CSV as it is updated. I tried to post a link to it, but i think discus filters links.
I think two retail prices make sense. A steel case range/surplus ammo price. And then a brass case range/surplus ammo price. Self defense ammo varies considerably in both personal preferences and price. By looking just at ball/FMJ/range ammo, that's where most of us do our most shooting and mostly shoot the same... The cheapest per round/quantity at type for each of the various vendors. Ideally, you'd compare the same same item, but that'd add a lot of work to your tracking.
OR even better, if someone had/could provide wholesale prices quarterly, biannually, or even annually for all the major ammunition manufacturers that would be awesome for us to actually see who is/isn't price gouging and make our patronage decisions accordingly.
