Les Baer's "HEMI 572" 1911 pistol
One of the cool things about SHOT is that you often get to meet the men and women whose names adorn the products we love. When I spoke to Les Baer of Les Baer custom, he showed me his new 1911 for 2013 called the “HEMI 572” which is based off of his love for high performance cars and the Les Baer Premier II pistol.
Les restored and refabricated his personal 1970 Pro Street Cuda muscle car which is powered by a 572 Hemi Super Street motor. He says he brought the same attention to detail and quality to this new HEMI 572 pistol.
The HEMI 572 has the following special features:

- Double serrated slide
- Baer fiber optic front sight with green insert
- Flat mainspring housing checkered at 20 lpi
- Special tactical package with ambi safety & VZ black recon grips
- Complete hard chrome finish on all major components

The gun id take. The hemi id push off a cliff........i kid. Id sell it to someone on ebay who obviously doesnt know where to find fords.
Maybe if les sees the big trucks that deliver this crap, we can have the "naked reclining chick mud flap" model. Or maybe we could race the boss 429 and hemi 571 guns on the next season of top shot. Howzabout if gas hits $8 a gallon? will we get the new 1 liter diesel model??? Will he ever produce a BJ and the Baer model? Ah, to hope perchance to dream.
Ralph Waldo Emerson is credited with saying "build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door." The 1911 is a pretty damn fine mousetrap. It certainly doesn't need loud mufflers and cherry bomb stickers to prove its mettle. I wish les all the best at his new job at the franklin mint.
