I've owned Colt, Kimber and stock S&W 1911's and the S&W Pro Series 9 mm is absolutely the best shooting 1911 I've owned. Out of the box I repeatedly shot 2" groups at 7 yards using a variety of low cost target ammo. After approx. 450 rounds, have not had any feed or ejection problems and the trigger breaks at a perfect 4 1/8 lbs. Front strap checkering is terrific and the slight palm "bulge" on the grips along with the stippled finish is very comfortable. Resonably priced 9 mm ammo and street price (I paid $1250) makes this the perfect 1911.
I agree with REK, this is as nice a 9mm as you are likely to find. Fit, finish, all are great. This 1911 has all the feel of a 45 except a slight less recall and cheaper to shoot. Smith has done well with this pistol. It is all they say and a bag of chips. After shooting this gun, I do not have clue why I even looked at a plastic 9mm. I bought mine for few dollars less than REK but it was worth a little more. Put 125+ rounds down range yesterday, mostly the white box and some odds and end. Also some really good LEO stuff. Fed, fired and ejected all without hesitation. It also came with 2 Wilson combat mags. Top line mags for a top of the line gun.
