Federal law enforcement agents, led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, descended on Nashville's Sabre Defence Industries this morning and closed down the facility for at least the day.

Law enforcement officials were seen escorting employees one by one of the company out of their 35,000-square-foot facility on Allied Drive. Each employee was searched next to their personal vehicle, had their vehicle searched and, when cleared, were allowed to leave the premises. No individuals were witnessed being arrested.

I wonder what is going on.

Sabre's M4 Tactical Piston Carbine

My guess is that it allow quick transition between the Backup Iron Sights and the main EOTech holographic sight if the EOTech glass cracks up or something. Compared to a quick release mount for the EOTech, this seems like a poor solution. Firstly it would require a fair amount of practice to shoot accuracy in that position and secondly who wants sights sticking out the side, just waiting to snag on something (if you sights are going to be flipping down, reaching to flip them up surely would not take much longer than releasing a quick mount EOTech).

UPDATE: ExurbanKevin and Tony explained in the comments that it is a 3-gun competition rig. In a competition some targets may be require to be hit with iron sights so this allows super quick transition.

Sabre Defence introduces the M5 Tactical rifle available in 5.56mm, 6.5 Grendel and 7.62×39. The M5 has a 14.5″ chrome-moly-vanadium barrel with a 1:7 twist, and comes with an A2 flash hider, mid-length gas system and railed hand guard. The stock is adjustable for length-of-pull. The rifle features an Ergo Grip and 552 EOTech Holographic weapon sight.
