Chris, an Australian reader of TFB, is heading to Las Vegas for work and emailed me asking if I could post these questions on the blog for y’all to answer. 1. Are there any reputable firing ranges in LV? 2. Would I be able to hire any firearms will at said range? [Read More…]
Watch the below video then vote. It is all fun and games until someone gets hurt! Thanks to Jeff for finding the video.
Taser have just launched their new much-hyped X3 model. The X3 corrects a major flaw in the Taser system, something gun slingers realized at least 250 years ago, to wit, when dealing with people at close range a single shot is never enough. The X3 addresses this problem [Read More…]
I won’t be blogging tomorrow, so you can skip TFB on Thursday without missing anything.
One of the most useful gun cleaning / smithing tools I have is a dental pick. The dental pick I use looks like the one pictured 3rd from the right. Dental picks can be used for any number of common tasks such as scraping powder residue out of hard to reach places, [Read More…]

Tactical Arms is a new show on the Sportsman Channel. The show hosted by the well known Larry Vickers (ex-Delta) and co-hosted by Kyle DeFoor (ex-SEAL) and Jason Falla (ex-SASR). It looks like it will be taking a more technical look at firearms and how they work, rather [Read More…]

Jonny Depp has just gone right up in my estimation after reading that he learnt to shoot as a youngster and now takes his own children shooting. Yahoo News reports: Johnny Depp is keen on teaching his children to handle guns. The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ [Read More…]
A couple of SNAFUs caused images not to load in some situations, such as when reading the blog on Google Reader in certain web browsers. This has now been fixed. Another problem of some pages displaying incorrectly has been fixed. The site colors have also been tweaked. [Read More…]

Last week I went to see the movie Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen and I really enjoyed it. It is not the type of movie that will provide intellectual stimulation, an emotional experience or give insight into human character, but it is very entertaining. For those [Read More…]
In the past I have blogged intermittently on the weekend. From now on I will not blog on Saturday or Sunday unless there is some breaking news. This gives me some time to work on longer posts for the upcoming week, site maintenance and to get outside for shooting and [Read More…]
I am often asked by readers how they can get a job in the firearms industry but since I have never worked in the industry I cannot offer any advice. Frederic emailed me a link to a recruitment company called Shooting Search that specializes in the “shooting, [Read More…]

Brownells have finally updated their awful website and said in their own words that it “no longer sucks!”
I have a fluid dynamics question that I am very keen to ask an engineer or physicists. If you are able to run some numbers through that fancy modeling software you people have, that would be great. I would publish your answer on the blog, with full credit given to you. [Read More…]
Bitter has written an interesting post about the firearms and outdoor industry and the New Media. In short they are clueless (of course if you work in the industry and read blogs, then he is not talking about you).
I rarely watch The Daily Show but I got a good laugh from this video. The biggest joke of course is that its all true. Much better than The Onion’s take on guns. Thanks to Sven for the link.
Those of you who do not work in the IT industry may not have heard about the new search tool from Google called Squared which launched yesterday. It takes a search query and turns it into a database. It handles firearms very well. It can find out the range, caliber, [Read More…]
Kellene, who blogs at Woman of Caliber, gives the ladies some tips on range attire … Ladies, let’s face it. Given that there are very few female firearm instructors, no one has come right out and provided sound “fashion” advice to women for their trips to [Read More…]
