Apparently these are Ogadeni minority tribespeople who are being killed by the majority tribes in Somalia. They arm themselves to keep from being slaughtered.

This Enfield would fire when enough water dripped (along the wire, I think) from the top can into the bottom can. It was used by the ANZAC forces at Gallipoli (WWI) to make the Turkish forces think they were still in the trenches while they were retreating.
Very clever. I want to make one! (With blanks, of course).

I was emailed this. It apparently was made in New Zealand but I do not have any other information. It uses a conventional zip gun design: a bolt in a tube with a threaded barrel.
What makes it interesting is that it looks like both barrels can be fired at once by pressing on or pulling down the rod (on the left side of the photo).

I didn’t know they used shot line adapters. When I saw the photo I thought he was using a suppressor.
PACIFIC OCEAN (March 24, 2008) Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class Aan J. Doscher, assigned to the dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49), fires an M-14 with a shot line adapter toward the Military Sealift Command combat stores ship USNS San Jose (T-AFS 7) during a refueling-at-sea. The winners of the World Press Photo 2007 were announced in Amsterdam on 08 February 2008. “1st prize stories” of “People in the news” was awarded to Philippe Dudouit for “PKK fighters, Southern Kurdistan/Northern Iraq”.
This photo in particular is very interesting. The soldier is holding an M16 with an advanced sight!
The Turks have been accusing the US of not doing enough to prevent theft of firearms which they claim end up in the hands of the PKK. Although the US and other western nations has been known to work with branches of the PPK, it is very unlikely they would provide M16s which could be traced back to them.
When the photo was published I am sure some people were not too happy about it.
The rest of the photos are here. I especially like the last one which features a woman facing away with an AK slung over her back.
Very cool. I am not sure when it will be available. The long slide version is initially only be available in 9mm.

The new model 700 Varmint-Tactical Rifle (VTR) is chambered in .204 Ruger, .223 Remington, .22-250 Remington and .308 Win.
A fusion of our most advanced performance features in both tactical and varmint rifles, the new Model 700â„¢ Varmint-Tactical Rifle (VTRâ„¢) is a revolutionary system optimized for extended-range precision and mobility. Its triangular barrel contour is a product of years of rigorous research and development focused on reducing weight, enhancing rigidity and promoting rapid heat dissipation.
To decrease recoil and muzzle jump, this uniquely contoured 22″ barrel has an integral muzzle brake that’s machined-in during production. Along with the new barrel design, we brought together a host of other cutting-edge features on our super accurate Model 700 platform. The results are nothing short of astounding.
