The BBC reports that South Africa has held the biggest ivory sale in 20 years:

The auction in Pretoria of more than 51 tonnes of elephant tusks was sanctioned by the UN body which oversees trade in endangered species.

The tusks sold for $142 per kilo, netting the government $6.7m (£4.2m) -less than expected.

The UN has allowed Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe to each sell off their elephant ivory stocks this year. These were one-off sales and are not allowed to be repeated. The total ivory sold was 107.75 tonnes.

Hopefully this will have a significant impact on the price of ivory grips.

Boone Trading Company AAA Grade Colt Officers’ grips: $230

The BBC article I linked to above was not well researched. Mammoth tusks are not uncommon and sales are legal, although I expect elephant ivory is of much better quality than bones which have been sitting in permafrost for 4500+ years.

The slogan of the restaurant — “Sandwiches Can Kill You” — is displayed at the entrance with the photo of a hamburger with a pistol sticking between the buns.

…

The eatery, which looks like a military outpost, was designed to be an unconventional hangout but it also resonates because of recent armed clashes in Beirut and the many tanks and military troops deployed here in the capital. The restaurant is located in a crowded street of Dahiyeh, Beirut’s southern suburb and a Hezbollah stronghold that was the scene of heavy airstrikes during the militant group’s 2006 war with Israel.

Pathetic in my opinion.

Around 11 p.m., police say a second officer noticed a man in a nearby house pointing what looked like a long barreled gun at the officer doing the traffic stop.

Hillel Neuer of UN Watch exposes the hypocrisy of the UN Human Rights Council (March 23, 2007). For the first time ever, the Council president, Ambassador Luis Alfonso de Alba of Mexico, rejects the speech as “inadmissible” and bans it from ever being delivered again.

When the UN are not blaming Israel and the US, ignoring crimes against humanity and trying to take control of the internet from the US, they are trying to ban small arms. They make me sick.

In 2009 the UN Human Rights council will include China, Saudi Arabia, Russia and Cuba, all of which have absolutely shocking human rights records.

This font is very very cool. For each letter there is a gun glyph (image) . It has everything from derringers to assault rifles.

Here is an example of some text using the font

It works on both Windows and Mac OS X.
The 2nd Amendment font can be downloaded here.
Enjoy!
