Press release:

Yonkers, New York, January 8, 2007 - Kimber® has introduced the Model 8400â„¢ Caprivi, a spectacular rifle designed for hunting Africa’s dangerous game. The Caprivi Strip, from which the rifle takes its name, is a piece of wild Africa known for abundant wildlife; a place as rugged as it is beautiful.

The AA French walnut stock with hand-rubbed oil finish, ebony forend tip, 24-lpi wrap checkering and pancake cheekpiece set the Capriviâ„¢ well above all other production rifles. A barrel band swivel stud, Howell-style rear swivel stud and three-leaf rear express sight speaks to the rifle’s true purpose.

The heart of a rifle is the action, and the Caprivi does not disappoint. The Mauser claw extractor ensures positive feeding and extraction regardless of hunting conditions. The safety is a classic, three-position wing. The match grade barrel, chamber and trigger ensure accuracy. Finally, four .375 H&H cartridges ride in the magazine.

The Caprivi is certain to be an instant classic. Suggested retail price is $3,196. Like other Kimber rifles, the Caprivi is available from over 2,000 Kimber Master Dealers across America.

Kimber Expands Premium 9mm 1911 Models

Press release

Yonkers, New York, January 10, 2007 - Kimber® has announced the new Aegis family of premium 1911 pistols chambered in 9mm. The Aegis II™ was the first ultra-compact 9mm pistol in company history. Introduced in May 2006 as a limited edition, demand was so great that it has become a family of three pistols. This year, the Aegis is renamed the Ultra Aegis II™. It has a 3-inch barrel, compact frame and comes with an 8-round magazine. The Pro Aegis II™ has a 4-inch barrel, full size frame and 9-round magazine. The Custom Aegis II™ incorporates a 5-inch barrel, full size frame and 9-round magazine.

Aegis pistols have a striking appearance. The matte black slide contrasts with the satin silver frame, and both are complimented by slim rosewood ball-milled grips that improve fit to smaller hands. The flat top slide has the premium KimPro IIâ„¢ finish, wide cocking serrations and Tactical Wedge Tritium night sights. The aluminum frame is finished in satin silver KimPro II, has 30 LPI checkering on the front strap, a high relief cut under the trigger guard, bumped and grooved beavertail grip safety, a solid target trigger and matching silver small parts. As with all Kimber pistols, the trigger, chamber and barrel are match grade.

One of the most important Aegis features is the carry melt treatment on both frame and slide that rounds corners and edges. The hammer, thumb safety and magazine release button are bobbed, further reducing the profile and ensuring the pistol will not snag on clothing or holsters.

Proudly made in America and available at over 2,000 Kimber Master Dealers across the country, each Aegis carries a suggested retail price of $1,195.

Kimber’s Advanced Tactical Rifle Kit

GunBlast.com reviews Kimber’s Advanced Tactical Rifle Kit
 Images Lt Kim-Tac Kim-Tac-6

As neat as the kit is, though, if the rifle isn’t good it’s just window dressing. Kimber’s Advanced Tactical Rifle is chambered for the .308 round, the standard for law enforcement and many military applications. Probably the first thing most shooters will notice with the Advanced Tactical is the McMillan A-5 stock in desert camo. It is very striking in appearance, but it also incorporates a lot of really useful tactical features.

For example, it incorporates five sling swivel studs, one of which is only for bipod attachment. The others, however, offer the ability to attach a sling in various positions using quick detach swivel connectors. Since the rifle weighs close to 10 lbs without scope and bipod, a good sling is a necessity.

The choice of attachment points allows a tactical marksman to tighten up to use the sling for shooting from the seated or kneeling position or even from off hand but or have the option for switching attachment points for ease of carry. Length of pull is adjustable through removal or addition of spacers beneath the recoil pad. Drop at heel and drop at comb are adjustable as well. I also like the flat on the forearm which allows use of a sand bag or other rest.
