Shooting deer on mars

I got a good laugh from the comment by Jim on The Gun Nut’s blog

The vast majority of American hunters/shooters couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn @ 100 yards offhand, yet we set our guns up (even slug guns and muzzleloaders) with scopes the size of the hubble telescope (just in case) we need to shoot @ a deer on Mars.

Guns at a wedding

DoubleTapper describes the latest wedding he attended …

I sat at my assigned table with 9 other guys. Of the 10 of us, there were 3 Glocks, 1 Sig, and 2 S&W’s. It was a little weird until I realized that 3 of the guys were under 21, and 2 were still in the IDF and had their duty weapons stashed under the table.

I have got to attend a Jewish Israeli wedding in my lifetime! Seems like an event not to be missed ;)

First there was MetalStorm, now there is DataStorm

I am sure you have heard of MetalStorm, the Australian electronically fired stacked projectile artillery system. Now there is the DataStorm. It is a full auto system that uses surplus floppy disks for ammo. I want one!

(The first 1/4 of the video is boring)

The Deresonator

I came across this post at RFC by “_Shorty” showing photos of his Limbsaver Barrel De-resonator. It is a rubber thing that slips onto a rifle barrel that, in theory, dampens the muzzle vibration improving accuracy.

When I looked at the photo I though it must be a joke. I mean look at it … remind you of anything?

It’s not a joke, they sell it. Maybe it is just me, but I could never put something like that on the end of my rifle.

The pink craze is not limited to guns

If you thought it was only the firearms industry going pink, you would be wrong.

US Trails Behind World In Aptitude Of Child Soldiers

From the theonion.com (a satire site):

After a shocking new study finds U.S. children lag far behind their international peers in subjects like rifle assembly and mine defusing.

“An average Sudanese child can field strip a Type-81 assault rifle by the time he is in seventh grade. An American child could not until he enlisted in the military”
