Armalite AR-50 .50 BMG vs. Hard Drives
I saw this over at Snowflakes in Hell. An armor piercing incendiary .50 BMG round is fired from an Armalite AR-50 rifle at 18 hard drives.
The round passes through 16 and it embedded in the 17th.

In 2010 Armalite will be selling the AR-30 chambered in .270 Win., 30-06, 7mm Rem. Mag and .338 Win. Mag., making the name AR-30 something of a misnomer.
The new models feature a 26″ barrel, with the exception of the .270 which has a 22″ barrel. They all have the big AR-30 two baffle muzzle brake. It is the first time I have seen a .270 Win. with a tactical-style muzzle break!

I am not sure what the intended application of these rifle are. I have not heard of .270 Win. being used as a bench rest or tactical cartridge. I don’t think hunters will take to carry around a hefty muzzle break in the field. Most hunters prefer repeaters and the AR-30 is a single shot.
No word on pricing.
ArmaLite has their new AR-10T chambering 7mm-08, a very popular hunting round. Interestingly they are also offering it in the the relatively obscure .260 Remington. The .260 is now 11 years olds and gaining popularity as a flat shooting and low recoil 6.5mm cartridge.

This interesting .50 BMG rifle was discovered on a raid by Mexican police and army:
My take on the rifle is that it is a McMillian TAC-50 action with an AR-50 barrel and muzzlebreak and a homemade unfinished (no recoil pad) stock.
