What this blog is all about

A friend sent me a link to wordle.net. I used it to create a cool word picture from tags I have used on the blog. Pretty cool.

Shooting deer on mars

I got a good laugh from the comment by Jim on The Gun Nut’s blog

The vast majority of American hunters/shooters couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn @ 100 yards offhand, yet we set our guns up (even slug guns and muzzleloaders) with scopes the size of the hubble telescope (just in case) we need to shoot @ a deer on Mars.

Rachel Papo photographed IDF woman as as part of her masters thesis project. It is very well done.

New Leupold UltimateSlam

Leupold have launched a new scope called the UltimateSlam for shotguns and modern muzzleloaders. The SABR reticle can be adjusted to match your load.

SABR: Sabot Ballistics Reticle

Leupold’s® all-new UltimateSlam™ riflescope is the ideal combination of flexibility, accuracy, and durability for today’s modern muzzleloaders and shotguns. As an example of accuracy, using Hornady SST 2-pellet, 3-pellet and 12 gauge shotgun loads at up to 300 yards, the maximum error of the UltimateSlam is less than 1″ as compared to a 14″ error from the leading competitor.

Blog back online

The blog has been moved to the new server.

The server is a VPS (Virtual Private Server) which requires the entire server be setup by manually. There is a good chance I have forgot to configure something. I would appreciate an email if you find anything not working.

I do know about the problem with some characters not showing up correctly in the blog posts. I am working on that.

I was having a problem when some text was not being displayed correctly. If this is happening you to please email me when a screen shot. Below is a screenshot of the text before I fixed it.

The Firearm Blog

Different browsers / operating systems would be slightly different.

My email address is at the top of the left sidebar. Thanks for your help.

Wooden gun replicas

James found a webpage showing the wooden replicas made by Robert A. Talbot. They are amazing. They are made to scale
and “work” like the real thing. The only parts not made of wood appear to be parts that would be too weak.

Here are some photos of the peacemaker replica:

… I am a gun enthusiast, not a military arms dealer …

I have enjoyed running this blog and getting to know the gun blogger community. Thanks for all your encouragement.

And thanks to all the readers who took time to participate in discussions and let me know about interesting content to post.

A special thanks to Michigan Slugger for contributing the excellent article Accurate Slug Shooting Made Easy and my brother who frequently helps me with the blog (often correcting my awful spelling that my blog client fails to pick up on).

New gun blog: The Pretty Pistolera

A new gun blogger:

A few months ago the bug finally bit me and I love it! My husband was thrilled and bought me a Glock 17. I decided to blog about my entry into the gun culture and start shooting IDPA competitively (wow, I suck).

Buns and Guns takeaway

A military/guns themed eatery in Lebanon called Buns and Guns

 Photos Uncategorized 2008 06 30 Bunsguns2
Photo from LA Times Blog

The slogan of the restaurant — “Sandwiches Can Kill You” — is displayed at the entrance with the photo of a hamburger with a pistol sticking between the buns.

The eatery, which looks like a military outpost, was designed to be an unconventional hangout but it also resonates because of recent armed clashes in Beirut and the many tanks and military troops deployed here in the capital. The restaurant is located in a crowded street of Dahiyeh, Beirut’s southern suburb and a Hezbollah stronghold that was the scene of heavy airstrikes during the militant group’s 2006 war with Israel.

Pathetic in my opinion.

Guns at a wedding

DoubleTapper describes the latest wedding he attended …

I sat at my assigned table with 9 other guys. Of the 10 of us, there were 3 Glocks, 1 Sig, and 2 S&W’s. It was a little weird until I realized that 3 of the guys were under 21, and 2 were still in the IDF and had their duty weapons stashed under the table.

I have got to attend a Jewish Israeli wedding in my lifetime! Seems like an event not to be missed ;)
