Tom is a former Navy Corpsman that spent some time bumbling around the deserts of Iraq with a Marine Recon unit, kicking in tent flaps and harassing sheep. Prior to that he was a paramedic somewhere in DFW, also doing some Executive Protection work between shifts. Now that those exciting days are behind him, he teaches wilderness medicine and runs an on-demand medical staffing business. He hopes that his posts will help you find solid gear that will survive whatever you can throw at it–he is known (in certain circles) for his curse…ahem, ability…to find the breaking point of anything.
Drumroll…..And the winner for the second set was Michael’s Predator Hunting AR with just over 43% of the votes (Jodie’s Rebel Scum came in second with Noshpatu and Valorius at a dead tie for 3rd). The randomly picked winning voter was Todd W. I would [Read More…]
The 21st Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by JG. I believe this is the first build that has been submitted where one of the components was actually 3-D printed by the builder. While everything else was off the shelf as JG mentions it is not bad [Read More…]
Pete recently did a long term review of a set of Gatorz Eyewear Magnum Z87. I too have been wearing their glasses for almost a year. I was going to pick up another pair for backup (since one of my special talents is breaking things) and also a clear pair (shooting in [Read More…]
My Reserve Sheriff Department is a “bring your own gear” affair (meaning that we can source the required bits from wherever we want; opposed to the issued Sam Brownes that the full-time Deputies get). I had been running HSG TACOs prior to hiring on, [Read More…]
Last week saw our 20th installment of Build of the Week and we have plenty more submissions to go. As we mentioned, we have a plan in mind for some interactivity with this series to keep it a little more fun and lively. As is our process, after every four posted [Read More…]
This month’s Reader’s Choice was a conducted a little differently. For our first attempt at this feature, you all suggested that we missed some. This time we allowed you to add choices in the comments and if there were enough upvotes, we added the firearm to [Read More…]
The 20th Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by Jodie P. This build is pretty straightforward. It has a decent optic, a Faxon barrel, and Strike should be happy to see a build with one of their stocks. What makes this build stand out is the paint scheme [Read More…]
The 19th Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by Valorius. I only called it “Glorious” because it was kind of poetic. Overall a pretty clean build, and good integration of the Cobalt Linear Compensator—it looks good here. Valorius has been a long [Read More…]
Drumroll…..And the winner for the second set was the 6.5 Grendel Pistol Build by DJ with 32% of the votes (I’ve noticed that the votes are getting much closer; I’m assuming because the individual builds appeal to some segments of all of you. It could [Read More…]
The 18th Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by Noshpatu. I think this submission beat the whole “Space Force” announcement a few months ago so Noshpatu may have something. That said, anything with the Hera CQR is going to look science-fictiony. The [Read More…]
Two weeks ago (my apologies for not getting this out last week) we saw our sixteenth installment of Build of the Week and we have plenty more submissions to go. As we mentioned, we have a plan in mind for some interactivity with this series to keep it a little more [Read More…]
Many of you called the winner in the comments… But what is interesting is that the Winchester SX4 Models far outsold the M4 Tactical, as did the Beretta A300 line. Not that we are remotely considering this process scientific. And I would wager that our readership [Read More…]
The sixteenth Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by BKKSW. I have just recently embraced the 300 BLK (after constant hounding and derision from Pete). I went with a very much “off-the-shelf” SIG MCX Rattler PSB, and now that I am part of the [Read More…]
The fifteenth Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by DJ. I personally have no experience with 6.5 Grendel. One of the things I am enjoying about this series is seeing the variety of not only modifications but platforms. DJ has provided one of the more [Read More…]
GLOCK has partnered with TFB to give you an amazing gun. GLOCK has announced a new addition to the 9X19 family of pistols featuring the latest in design and engineering seen in the 5th Generation of GLOCK pistols. The GLOCK 45 combines the fast handling of the GLOCK 19 [Read More…]
The fourteenth Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by M Bear. Any mention of “Project Nemesis” immediately brings up visions of Milla Jojovich and a genetically engineered zombie apocalypse. This build would probably serve well in putting down [Read More…]
Most of the time we choose content based on a complex algorithm that involves consulting the stars, throwing chicken bones, and getting the editorial staff really inebriated. Rarely do we give you the ability to tell us what YOU think are good products. To [Read More…]
I first had the pleasure of getting hands on with the Micro Roni during an event at the end of 2016. The event was focused on the Micro Roni, the MH1 Reflex Sight, and a training course (“IDF Train the Trainer”), and was run by Mikey Hartman, CEO of CAA (and [Read More…]
The thirteenth Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by Steve. This is Steve’s FINAL submission. Submit early and often and you too can showcase your works. Honestly I like most everything on this build–it is pretty clean and has a nice [Read More…]

Drumroll…..And the winner for the second set was William C with his AR “In All It’s Glory” build. The randomly picked winning voter was R C. William C will receive a gift card to a retailer where he can acquire more parts for his next build (and be entered [Read More…]
Last week saw our twelfth installment of Build of the Week and we have plenty more submissions to go. As we mentioned, we have a plan in mind for some interactivity with this series to keep it a little more fun and lively. As is our process, after every four posted [Read More…]
The twelfth Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by Woodrow. I have personally not had any experience with Aero Precision components, but I have generally heard good things. The Faxon barrel is a solid choice–can’t really go wrong there. That [Read More…]
The tenth Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by Hoplopfheil. So long as you are not clearing a room with a teammate, loud and massive muzzle flashes are fun. I am definitely becoming more and more a fan of AR/AK “pistols” as time goes on, [Read More…]
The ninth Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by William C. Organized desk award (with sadly empty decanter) goes too…. I know Cerakote is a “thing”, but I still have a special place in my heart for rattle can paint jobs. This rifle [Read More…]
There was a little confusion last week since we rolled the results in with the new BOTW. We listened and split the posts. Drumroll…..And the winner for the second set was Rick’s Rifle Dynamics AK Build with 157 votes (Steve’s Mk 24 Combat Assault [Read More…]
Last week saw our eighth installment of Build of the Week and we have plenty more submissions to go. As we mentioned, we have a plan in mind for some interactivity with this series to keep it a little more fun and lively. After every four posted Builds, we are going [Read More…]
The eighth Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by Johnny. I am a personal fan of the M&P Shield. I carry one on duty (original; not the 2.0) as my backup gun and honestly find myself carrying it as my CCW during the summer months. These mods all sound [Read More…]
The seventh Installment of Build of the Week was contributed by Rick. This is actually a full repost of his write up that he originally submitted on ar15.com in May of 2017. In any case, keep the submissions coming in! We are publishing them in the order in which [Read More…]
