Jim has been a hunter and outdoorsman for sixty years, including working as a commercial fisherman for five seasons. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in fisheries and wildlife biology from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University. He served as an officer in the United States military during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as a Major in 1975. He is a 100% disabled veteran and Life Member of both the VFW and DAV.

Mary has hunted for thirty years, having been taught by her father, a former mountain lion hunter in New Mexico. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a B.S.N. in nursing, and worked as a registered nurse in the neonatal unit of a local hospital until being thrown from her horse fourteen years ago.
