Hybrid Platform Meets Demands of Precision Long-Range Hunters with Tactical Hunter Stock

Hybrid Platform Meets Demands of Precision Long-Range Hunters

Spinning off the company’s M40A1 HTG stock originally developed for the Marine Sniper Rifle, McMillan® Fiberglass Stocks introduces the Tactical Hunter stock, a modified version of the M40A1 HTG that blends tactical DNA with a profile designed for long-range hunting applications.

The signature feature of the Tactical Hunter stock is the forearm. It is wider, deeper, and more rounded than standard M40A1 or M40A1 HTG stocks. These robust dimensions offer a larger grip surface and provide increased stability when shooting off ad-hoc support such as day packs, rocks, timber, or shooting sticks. Additionally, the forearm has a more acute angle along the bottom, which delivers quicker height adjustment with reduced fore and aft movement when shooting off a support. This makes it easier to get a comfortable rest and optimal sight alignment in fast-paced, less than ideal hunting conditions.

When you order any paint finish, the underlying stock is hand-sanded, primed, and painted to eliminate all surface imperfections. This is the finish most manufacturers specify for the McMillan stocks that are sold with their custom shop rifles.

Available with or without an integral, adjustable cheekpiece, the Tactical Hunter is a straight, ambidextrous-style stock, allowing it to be inletted for both right-or left-hand applications. Included are a one-inch Pachmeyer Decelerator recoil pad, two sling swivel studs and one bipod mount stud, and installed aluminum pillars that permit dropping in the barreled action and torquing the action screws to the recommended 45 in/lbs.

For hunters who demand a solid stock platform to maximize accuracy yet require performance considerations for real-world hunting, the McMillan® Tactical Hunter fits the bill.
