If the Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Compact with a 4″ barrel was not your cup of tea make sure to keep your wallet out. Smith & Wesson now has available a NEW 3.6″ Compact Series available in .40 S&W or 9mm.

Smith & Wesson is banking on the prospect of shaving that length down by 0.4″ could make the difference for many consumers when it comes to conceal-ability and the desire to add a Smith to their collection.

This new shorter line of handguns still maintains the same grip size; thus, the same 15-Round 9mm and 13-Round .40 S&W capacity.

These new models are offered like many M&Ps with the option of an ambidextrous thumb safety or without one. The retail pricing is the same either way with them coming in at $569.

Jan Mladek, General Manager of Smith & Wesson and M&P brands, shared these thoughts on the new 3.6″ Compact Series for the M&P M2.0 line of handguns:

When we launched the M&P M2.0 Compact pistol series with a 4″ barrel last September, we knew it was just the first step in expanding the popular Compact pistol sizeoffering. During the development process, there was considerable interest in a shorter, 3.6″ barrel concept, and with this introduction, we’re now able to offer our consumers a lighter, shorter compact pistol for concealed carry.  While the barrel length is shorter, the M&P M2.0 Compact 3.6″ pistol maintains the 15 round, 9mm magazine capacity of the Compact series– an important requirement for many of our customers.

These pistols still boast the same features as all M&P M2.0 firearms, and as stated above, use the same magazines as well.
