In early May 2018, Seekins Precision launched it’s newest AR-15 accessory to bear the company’s logo – the NX15 BCG. With forward assist serrations, the magnetic particle inspected (MPI) and melonite finish make this bolt carrier group a no-brainer for the avid Seekins consumer.

What is Meloniting?

Simplified, the meloniting process is actually a quench-polish-quench heat treatment process (QPQ) that changes the molecular structure of the metal, often taking it to a Rockwell hardness of 70 or greater. By altering the metal, the process ensures that it cannot become scratched or wear off. Typically, melonited parts can last an additional 5,000 to 10,000 or greater (versus a phosphate part). Chromed parts cannot be melonited as it causes an explosive reaction.

The NX15 BCG is one of the newest members of the Seekins Precision family.

The mil-spec NX15 BCG weighs in at 11.2oz and has an MSRP of $185.
